Recorded at the Vasa Museum harbours, where a fully intact sailing ship from the 17th century (The Vasa) moors. The Berlin Philharmonics opened under the baton of Claudio Abbado with Richard Wagner’s The Flying Dutchman and went on with a symphonic fantasia The Tempest by Peter Tschaikovsky and Claude Debussy’s Nocturnes that perfectly matched with the maritime location. The principal work was Verdi’s Quattro Pezzi Sacri with the performance of the excellent Swedish Radio Choir and the Eric Ericson Chamber Choir.
